Tips on Renting a Car

Updated: Sep 16, 2023

So, you want to explore what Cabo San Lucas has to offer. Renting a car can be pretty pricey at times considering Mexico charges a mandatory insurance on all rental cars. Sometimes the mandatory liability insurance costs more than the actual daily rate. Renting a car from the airport is always going to cost more because of airport fees. If you are cost savvy like me, I have a few suggestions. First of all, do you really need a car the entire trip? I suggest booking round-trip transportation to/from the airport to Misiones Del Cabo. If you are on a budget, shared transportation is the way to go. You can also choose private transportation to/from the airport. With private transportation, most companies include 30 minutes to shop at Costco or Wal-mart (your choice) for an additional fee when requested in advance. Always request this added option when booking.

As for a rental car, we suggest using Avis from Pueblo Bonito Resort. To book, go to www.avis.com and use the location KB6. If you are a Costco member, you can use code A108326 for a discount. It will then require you to enter your Costco membership number. If you contact Avis 24 hours before you reservation at 624-143-2422 and request that they deliver the car to Misiones Del Cabo. They usually will deliver and pick up the car at Misiones Del Cabo if you contact them in advance. This saves you a trip from going downtown Cabo to Pueblo Bonito Resort to pick up the vehicle. Please note that they do close midday for 1 hour (usually from 2-3pm). Ask for their current business hours. If you are renting a car, you will need to pay to park at Misiones Del Cabo. The cost is $3.50USD/per day and this is paid to the HOA office. Parking is very limited at Misiones Del Cabo.

If you are going to rent a car, we highly suggest not driving at night. This is more a safety issue pertaining to livestock on the highways.
